We met with Dr. Pfeffer, the Breathing and Sleep Specialist yesterday. The good news is that Madi's problem doesn't appear to be serious. The tissues in her throat are still soft (very normal). They typically aren't hard until they are 6 months old. With some babies, when they lay down and sleep the soft tissue relaxes and closes more than it is supposed to. Because Madi is having this problem she isn't getting enough oxygen to her little body. The solution is simple, we have her hooked up to an oxygen machine to suppliment her body until she is able to harden up those soft tissues. As of right now, she has to be on the oxygen for 6 weeks at which time we will check her oxygen levels again and determine where to go from there. Hopefully this simple fix is all that she requires. We sure love little Madi! It's sad to see her all hooked up to the machines but it looks worse than it is and all will be well!
