Whatsa Goin' On?!?!?

I have been the WORLD'S worst at keeping up on this blasted blog! As I looked back through previous posts I'm glad that I had written those memories down. I have not kept track of anything really since Eastyn has been here and we have such great memories with the little monster that I MUST be better about posting again.

Eastyn turned 1 on March 18th and we had a fun little party at our house with our family and a few close friends. It felt like a whirlwind in our tiny little house with so many people packed in like sardines! Sorry about the weather folks! Too bad we didn't have him in the summer time so we could celebrate in our weed patch outside. Ü

At any rate, E was spoiled rotten and loved every minute of HIS day! He got a bunch of studly clothes, fun toys and lots and lots of books. He really digs books that do things, ie. pop up books, books that make noise, books with moving parts. The party people did NOT disappoint! He also got a big red wagon, which we don't have a picture of. Bryon was assigned picture duty and he failed miserably! I have plenty of pictures of disturbingly close up photos of people's faces (love you all, just not that close up!) but only 2 pictures of gifts and wouldn't you know it, it was gifts we gave him. I have learned my lesson and next time I'll be behind the camera! Eastyn really couldn't be bothered with singing and birthday (cup)cake, etc. SO Bry brought the (cup)cake to him - little stinker!

We stripped the kiddo down and gave him his cupcake. We were all on pins and needles waiting to see the magic of him demolishing this thing and making a huge mess..... Whose kid is this? Nothing! I think Bryon is messier than this at dinner time. *** I tease, please don't tell Bry I put that in here! Seriously though, the kid needs some destruction lessons!

He may have just learned his lesson when we celebrated Bry's birthday on February 5th. While we're on the subject of Bry's birthday, I thought I'd be the rockin'est wife ever and let Bry go fishing on the morning of his birthday. The kids and I stayed home and baked like a good little family does. When he got home we had cupcakes and presents galore! Madi was an incredible decorator and I think we may have had some sprinkles, etc. left when we were done. Eastyn of course when to town on THAT cupcake (who knows maybe he has stage fright). He was SO messy when he was done we had no choice but to strip him at the table and toss him in the tub immediately. The kid has an obsession with rubbing the top of his head. I'm partially convinced this is something his Uncle Kevin preemptively taught him. *** I have my eye on you Kev!

Anywho, after the presents were opened and the cupcakes devoured, I thought I'd take Bry for a little R&R time. We went straight to V&Y Nails for a pedicure and an hour sit in their AMAZING massage chairs! I'm 99.9% sure Bry would deny this if anyone asked, so... I took pictures! Ha!There is an incredibly funny story that goes along with this. See the sweet little Vietnamese woman working tirelessly on Big B's feet? She acted especially nervous while we were there. Bry was originally just sitting there watching, taking it all in. She would mumble something every once in a while in English to him but he had NO clue what she was saying. Most of the time she was talking up a storm in her native tongue to the girl working on me. Suddenly she very quietly asked Bry if he would read a magazine or take a nap. He couldn't understand her and kept asking her "What?" She looked at me and told me that he scared her and she wanted him to take a nap! I literally almost peed right then and there I was laughing so hard! I quickly gave him one of my smut magazines and told him to read it. It wasn't until we were driving home that he asked me what that was all about. When I told him, he was so embarrassed! I guess some people see his big tough exterior and think he must be mean, all I see is a big ole teddy bear.

I have lots more memories to blog about. Please don't be mad if I post about things that happened a year ago. I really just don't want to forget and this is a great way to remember!

It begins....

I don't really recall ever wanting to get in to my mom's make up and carry around her brushes all day but I guess I don't remember anything from when I was 3 so I could be wrong. At any rate, Madi wants to put on make up ALL THE TIME!! If she even sees my makeup bag she askes to use at least a brush. So the other morning as I was getting ready for work I was running late (as usual) and I had left all of my make up open and brushes strewn about. I didn't think anything of it. I remember Madi asking me if she could use my brushes and in my haste I said yes. She randomly would ask me about certain colors, etc. I guess I was really out of it because none of the dots were connecting. I finished up and started throwing everything back in the bag when I saw this face.....I gotta say I'm impressed! For the most part, she kept the eye shadow to the eye area. Next stop, eye liner....... Ü

Look who's 3.....

So I know I'm a little behind on posting but I have SO many things to share and pictures to post. Lets just get started. I think Madi's little birthday shin-dig should be up first, because lets face it, she is kind of a big deal. She has known that her birthday was on "August 3rd" for quite a while now but never really knew that her birthday was upon us! Once she found out that was all she could talk about, heck, that's all she STILL talks about. We have a lot of weird, conflicting work schedules among our family members so we had to work out a day that would work best for everyone. Because of this, we celebrated more of a week rather than a day. On July 28th we had Madi's family birthday party at our house. We also combined it with Eastyn's blessing, but that will be its own post. Lets not ruin the birthday magic for the princess! Since this was a work day for me it was rather busy and overwhelming to say the least! I got home and fixed up the Madster's hair as best I could with what little time I had. I think it turned out pretty cute if I say so myself! Check it out.....Almost everyone was able to Make it and Madi couldn't have been any more stoked! She had a ton of fun tearing in to present after present....I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked of all of her gifts. She was SPOILED though, I assure you! She got a lot of much needed clothes, toys, a digital camera, T-ball set (thanks daddy), lots of puzzles, shoes, jammies, make up and nail polish, AND....A Barbie Jeep....

She LOVED this thing! So did her cousin Ashley. They played so cute together and they each took turns driving it. Madi was pretending to check the mail every 2 seconds and I think Ashley would have preferred to just drive, but ehhh, they still had a good time. The cake was an ice-cream cake from Baskin Robbins. It was devils food cake with cookie dough ice cream. Can you say D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S? Yum.....That weekend Tenille and I went on our Saturday morning walk and decided it would be fun to take Madi to lunch and to the park. Of course we let her choose where to go and it was Arctic Circle (the only "restaurant" in town with a playground). It just so happened to be "Free Fry Day" so we enjoyed some free fries on the house and some corn dogs. Mad's played for a while and then we were off to the park. We played for a minute but Tenille found out the hard way that the Early August Heat at noon can be brutal on the bare skin! Luckily Madi had the sense not to go down. So we said good bye to the park and headed home. Bryon's brother Trevor moved in with us back in June of this year. He had to work the night of Madi's birthday party so on her actual birthday we decided to take her to ChuckECheese. Of course Bry had to take Madi to get some Toy Story toys first. Um, does anyone want to venture a guess as to what the stores are charging for these delightful little toys? See dinosaur in Eastyn's chair and Woody in Madi's..... She also got a buzz lightyear, but he was at home. All 3 were just a hair under $100. Seriously? I mean, really? Toys were so much cheaper back in my day... Ü Anyway, back to ChuckECheese. I remember that place being so much more fun when I was a kid..... but that's neither here, nor there. Madi didn't know the difference and she loved the heck out of it! Of course, Eastyn slept through the whole thing....
good baby........a small fortune later, we had full bellies and enough tickets (800) to buy a glittery bouncy ball. Well done.

To see this little face so happy made the whole thing worth it!

3 years ago today....

An angel was born. We called called her Madisyn. Since that day she has brought more joy to our lives than we ever knew was possible. She has her ups and downs and can put you in your place so quick it will make your head spin. But she can also melt your heart with the simplest of words. She is truly a blessing to Bryon and I! Happy Birthday Sweetheart! We love you baby girl!

Nursing.Sucks.

Did I mention how much nursing sucks? So when I had Madi she had absolutely zero interest in nursing and so we ended up just feeding her formula. That ended up being a better route for us since I still work full time and all. This time around Bryon and I thought we would try the nursing route to try to keep costs down since we learned last time that formula is incredibly expensive, especially when you have to feed specialized formula. So in the Hospital we gave it a go and Eastyn seemed to pick it up ok and we were excited to see that it was going to actually work. I was diligent in making sure E ate every 3-4 hours but I thought it sucked that he was nursing for an hour each time. It seemed like that was all we were doing! He was so small and frail and he just never really looked like he was growing. We took him in to his 2 week check up and our pediatrician about freaked out when he hit the scales at 6 lbs 11 oz. We didn't know why he had dropped SO much weight. Hopefully this isn't too much information but apparently I wasn't making milk. Since I never nursed Madi I had no idea that I didn't have milk come in. He was getting a little bit of something but obviously he wasn't getting fed. Bryon and I were devistated as you can imagine! Here we are 2 weeks later finding out that our son hadn't been fed for that whole time. We imediately got him on some fatty formula and 2 days later he weighed in at 7 lbs 4 oz. - luckily the formula is working. Looking back there were so many signs that we should have picked up on, but we just didn't know! This is weighing down on my heart pretty darn hard! My poor son. If we learned anything though, it is how resilient this little guy is! He hardly fussed at all especially considering he was literally starving to death! I guess we have started him off as one tough little cookie! So, watch out world ~ He's here!

Hello World....

On March 18, 2010 at 8:15 am Eastyn Grant joined our little family. He weighed in at 7 lbs 12 oz and 20 inches long. He was a little bit early but not nearly as big as we were expecting. In our Doctor's own words, genetically, Bryon and I make large babies..... We were expecting another almost 9 pound baby and were shocked to see how little this one was. I delivered at the new hospital and the help there was sub-par to say the least. One of Bryon's best friends wife delivered a week before I did at the same hospital and they went on and on about how great their nurses were and all the swag they picked up on the last day of their visit. I didn't even get a water bottle. Seriously??? I would hope we weren't so awful to take care of that they all hated us. I sincerely can't imagine that being the case. I mean look at us, we are both so easy going..... Ü We were told several times that we had the new nurses so I am sure that was the problem, but it still sucks to wait 30 minutes after you call for a nurse and miss out on free stuff when all this baby crap gets SO expensive!!! Have I complained enough yet? Well, unfortunately I am just getting started. My pregnancy this time around was pretty easy if I do say so myself. I never had morning sickness, I didn't start swelling up until the last month or so. The delivery itself was fine.

We were at the hospital at 6:00 am for my C-section and all went smooth. However, I have had more complications with this one that I thought were possible. I have had an embedded and twisted staple that had to be removed by my doctor, susequently a re-opened incision, an infection in said open incision and a pinched nerve in my incision. Seriously? What wrong have I done in my life to jusify all of this? I seriously wish I knew.... It sucks! But, at the end of the day when all is said and done I have a beautiful baby boy to show for all of this!

He is such a little angel! We love him so much and get such a kick out of how much Madi loves him too.

She has been such a great helper with him and tells him how much she loves him all the time. We don't have a ton of pictures of him...yet. But I promise to get some good pictures and get the posted ASAP. Welcome to the world Little One!
